About Us...

In 2012, we took a magical trip to Seattle, WA and experienced our first Vegan donut.

When we arrived back home to Devon, AB we just couldn't stop thinking about vegan donuts and quickly realized that no one was making them.

Mandy began developing a recipe at home and when she started serving them up to friends and family, she knew she had something!

After her boss at work called her a "Frickin' Delight" her new company name was decided. Mandy left her job as a Nurse in 2013 and started selling her donuts at local farmers markets.

Frickin Delights Donuts spent the next 3 years at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market, before ending production in April 2016 to focus on opening a storefront.

After a year of searching in Edmonton, Cory and Mandy decided to purchase "Grounded Coffee House and Cakery" in the summer of 2017.

Cory retired as a Journeyman Electrician to join Mandy full time in donut making.

The donuts and food are 100% vegan.

Together they want to show you that eating vegan food isn't a sacrifice..

Our Donuts

Our Donuts are made fresh daily!

We offer our take on the classic old fashioned nutmeg cake donut. They are light, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside and finished with our signature coconut milk based fudge glazes. We use ingredients like local wholegrain flour, applesauce, soft brown sugar, sea salt and coconut milk. Our donuts are dairy free and egg free and safe for those with those allergies. We use real fruit, gourmet teas, Battle Grounds Coffee, organic extracts and whole spices in all of our creations. We offer over 60 flavors and change our flavor set weekly in the cafe. We have classic flavors, seasonal flavors and signature creations. 

Why did you start Frickin' Delights Donuts?

My husband and I became vegan in the spring of 2012. On a trip to the U.S. I experienced my first vegan donut and when I came home I realized no one was making the donuts I had experienced... so I started making them!

Why did you become a vegan?

Initially the change was to address health issues. As time is passing, and with education and experience, I have come to value life as a vegan as my path to a happier, more compassionate and gentler way to live my life.

If you could possess one super-human power, what would it be?

Ooh, to remove pain from anyone at will!

Who was the most influential person to you as a child?

My Father. He is the epitome of determination and is my definition of love. He taught me that resilience lies in knowing you are loved.

Any childhood stories that you'd like to share?

I love animals and will always share my life with dogs. Recently my Grandmother told me a story about a time that she was caring for me. I had wandered off and I could not be found.. They eventually found me in her garage busying myself with a litter of puppies her own dog had just had! As an adult I still busy myself everyday playing with my dogs and enjoying their company...

What was your first job and what accomplishment are you the most proud of?

First job? Wow... it was in a commercial bakery for a retail grocery chain... then I worked at a catering company! 

As for accomplishment- definitely starting Frickin' Delights!

What was the most special way you’ve shown someone that you loved them and vice-versa?

I started cooking vegetables and grains, instead of meat. I put my own fears aside and made a change. The best way to show someone you love them is to do everything you can to ensure they are around for as long as possible.

He ate the Vegetables and Grains with enthusiasm.....

What is your greatest hope?

That people come to understand how powerful conscious spending is and that supporting their own local communities is the path to creating a happier, healthier life for them and their family.

What is your definition of “happiness” and what is your happiest memory?

Happiness = Acceptance. Accepting who you are and accepting others as they are.

Happiest memory? My father had a job when I was young where he would drive a truck to dairy farms to pick up milk to be hauled into the city for production. He would climb up top and skim cream off the surface of the large milk tanker and we would sit and eat large oatmeal cookies dipped in this cream together. I always felt safe, happy and loved on these little trips.

Describe your perfect day.

A perfect day would be working in my donut kitchen, delivering my creations then walking the dogs with my husband... with hot foamy soy cappuccinos and cool weather, then making dinner together- dinner being warm soup and fresh bread....
